Delicious Reimi from Star Ocean: The last hope. My new waifu~

If you haven’t noticed yet I’ve had a huge layout overhaul on Viera.nu. Mainly as I know in the next few years I need something that looks professional and stable and this is exactly what I wanted. I also wanted a layout that not everyone is going to have as it isn’t free, so paying out for one was a little strange. The results speak for themselves though, the style is so much better and I am really enjoying tweaking it to my preference.

It’s been a while since I have had a good chance to sit down and update this blog. Mainly because of life commitments and other more important things to put my time into but also because Star Ocean: The Last Hope finally released in Europe!

I am a huge Star Ocean fan, the RPG series is not only filled with odd story lines and addictive battles but also with rich item creation skills and character customisation. This really sets the game apart from other giants like Final Fantasy.

It’s been pretty amazing so far and I should be getting my review underway for Consolemonster.com when I finish it up. I’ve hit around 40+ hours so far and have finally reached disc 3. I am surprised I’ve burned through so much so quickly but it’s honestly worth your time if you love a good traditional jRPG.

While I will admit it’s extremely cheesy at times with all the talk of friends and saving the world and the voice acting in English is a left a little to be desired the game itself is very enjoyable. I’ve even managed to get my boyfriend Marcus into it which is quite surprising seeing as the jRPG genre is not really his cup of tea. The battles really speak for themselves, so addictive and I hit a good 2 hours in the Colosseum already.

Otherwise life is grand, I am just getting on with everything until Uni starts in September. I can’t wait. I’ll be getting a post-E3 article up here sometime in a next few weeks. It was a great E3 with some rather impressive and disappointing announcements. I think Sony and Microsoft did fantastic jobs but Nintendo have really let me down again. More of that soon!

It’s been really hot in England actually. Had a nice day with my boyfriend chilling out, playing games and relaxing in the sun. Nothing really eventful just nice. Anyway as usual you can keep up with my everyday life via twitter.com/atheistium and I hope to speak to you all soon :-)

  • I made the same decision a few weeks ago and went out and spend some money on a better web design for my new blog. It is definitely worth doing an extreme blog makeover once in a while.
I love the look of this site, and will be following along in your writings :-)
Congratulations on the new look! :-)

I’m in the same boat as you, Lauren! I just updated my blog with a layout I designed myself, but paying for an expert to code it was a new and odd experience! :) Still, I’m very happy with the results—I finally feel like I have something that’s “me,” you know?
    Love the new blog look!

Very nice new look Lauren. Although if I’m the straw that broke the camel’s back, I’m sorry. Well, sort of; the sleekness really suits the content you put out.
I’ve been subscribed for a while, although I’ve had to change the RSS feed location for some reason (I must have Profile Rot in Flock or something). Reading your stuff reminds me that I still have a long way to go. ;]
And as for playing games, I’m in the middle of .hack//G.U. which I bought while abroad. I modded my PS2 to play it, and I’m 25hrs in, the second chapter of three. After that… I don’t know. Maybe rent Wolverine for mindless killing.

Everyone is redesigning at the mo!
I really like this design, I was very close to buying this as well, just as well I didn’t ;)

    Nice redesign! Looks very professional.

I really like your layout, so pretty :D

Congrats on the new layout, very pretty and much easier on the eyes than the previous one..
Anyway, I’m dying to get my hands on this game. I loved the previous one. Would you say they are similar?

This is probably a stupid ass question but its something that I never really considered. When you guys get a game released in Europe, does it come with a different voice track than that of the US? By this, I mean do the characters all have english accents or do they just send you the US version more or less?

I’m asking because there is a notable difference between release dates in the US and Europe that obviously isn’t because of voice work, or is it? I know this is probably a dumb question but they say there is no such thing as bad questions – only bad answers. The delay probably just has to do with laws and stuff.
